Well done to Apple and Pear Class, who have made it through their first full week at school! They have been amazing! This week we have been looking at Elmer. We discussed why he's different to the other elephants, linking this to ourselves and why we are unique. In Maths, we have been focusing on writing our numbers 1-10.
Important messages:
Please ensure your child has their PE kit in school, ready for Tuesday. Remember no earrings please.
Reading books should be brought in daily with their book bags, even if it’s not their day for changing their book.
Show and tell will be starting this Friday, 30th September. Children can bring in a favourite toy or object to show to their class. Please ensure the item is not too big as they will all be kept in the show and tell box until Friday afternoon.
As the weather is getting colder and wetter. Please could we ask if you have a pair of wellies, please bring a named pair in to school.
In your child's reading record we have stapled in an Oxford Owl reading login. This is for you to access books online and continue reading more at home. If you have any problems with the login please let us know.
Have a lovely weekend,
The EYFS team.
Ready, Steady, Read competition
To celebrate and encourage a lifelong love of reading at home and school, we are running a sponsored read between Monday 26th September and Monday 3rd October. The project is being organised in conjunction with our Usborne Partner and all the money raised will go towards brand new Usborne books for our school. In addition to the sponsorship money, Usborne will also donate up to 60% of the total raised in EXTRA FREE BOOKS to the school.
We have run this event in the past and raised over £1000 for our school library! Miss Beamish will be hosting an assembly for all the children on Monday 26th September 2022 to launch the competition but essentially, each child will be asked to set themselves a target for how long they can read for in two weeks. They will then ask for sponsorships from family, friends, neighbours etc and try to reach their target! When they are successful, the money will need to be collected and we can put it alongside the additional 60% Usborne will give us towards new books for our classrooms and library.
It is an amazing event and we cannot wait to get reading!
