Week 6

This week Apple and Pear Class have been working really hard to develop their communication skills and language by talking about their own learning during continuous provision. They are starting to use a full sentence to explain what learning and area they are going to choose.

In Literacy we have focused on the Hungry Caterpillar, following our children’s interests in mini-beasts. We have looked at the life cycle of a butterfly and learnt a new word ‘symmetry’. Ask your child if they can remember what our new word means?

For Maths this week, we have been looking at the number three. Apple and Pear Class have been amazing at practicing writing the number and representing it in different ways. We have used different manipulatives such a bears, bead strings, tally chart and cubes.

As the children have been so interested in mini-beasts and the outside world, we have created a new reading garden inside our reception class. The children have really enjoyed and shown a high level of love for reading since our reading garden has been set up.

Well done to everyone that has read this week and completed their home learning. Thank you for all your support parents. Can you check your child’s book bag for their certificates!

Don’t forget it is Parents' Evening next week on Tuesday and Thursday, which are BOTH virtual. Please if you haven’t already, book a time slot.

Have a lovely weekend,

The EYFS Team.
