Another busy week in Cedar Class. We have finished the story called 'Kensuke's Kingdom' and we were quite disappointed as we loved the story. It led to lots of discussions as we predicted the ending just before we read the final part. We also looked at open ended and closed questions and used them in our role play. We acted out an interview scene for a newspaper report that we have planned and have started to write. This will be concluded next week. Next week we will be moving on to a lovely picture book called Flotsam where the children will be writing their own stories.
In Maths, Year 5 have been looking at addition and subtraction and they have beenĀ adding and subtracting whole numbers with more than 4 digits, including using formal written methods.
Year 6 have been looking at the addition of numbers with up to 7 digits and using mental recall facts to solve calculations. They have also been applying these skills in problem solving and developing their fluency skills.
For topic, we have compared St Lucia and Maidstone with a focus on the human and physical features of the two areas. We have been looking at friendships in PSHE and continued to learn about the 5 pillars of Islam in R.E.
Next week, we have an online visit with an author.
Please see the home learning that is now on Teams. The children have until the 20th October 2021 to complete it. Please see your class teacher if you need support.
Children are still coming into school in trainers. Please ensure the correct footwear is worn to school.
P.E. kits should be worn for P.E.
Thank you for your support and to everyone who contributed to and bought cakes from the cake sale last week.
Have a lovely weekend.
