Welcome back and a Happy New Year, we have already been back 2 weeks!!

This week we have started to read The Hero twins which is a Mayan folk tale. It is quite sinister and the children are enjoying it. We have written descriptions for settings and characters. We have been exploring the Mayan world by reading facts and doing some research on this. We have shared the PPTs that some children did as their Christmas home learning. They were amazing and gave us so much information.

In Maths, Year 5 have been learning to multiply numbers with up to 4 digits by a 2 digit number (long multiplication). Knowing their times tables is crucial to being successful at this.

Year 6 have been looking at how to convert fractions into decimals and vice versa and also looking at what happens when you divide and multiply decimal numbers by 10, 100 and 1000.

In topic we have looked at timelines and had great discussions about historical events we know.

In PE, we are learning to play Hockey. PE is now on a Wednesday.

From Monday (17.2.22) I will be doing uniform checks so please make sure school shoes are worn and not trainers, unless it is PE or Forest School day. If your child has a medical need which is why they wear trainers, Miss Hill must be informed as our SENCO.

If your child is doing Forest School this term, they can come to school in their Forest School Clothes. Wellies can be brought in, to change into.

Have a lovely weekend.

Mrs Rackley, Mrs Stokes and Mrs Burton.
