What another amazing and busy week we have had!
In Literacy, we have planned and written our newspaper reports based on a classic Fairy Tale. We learnt about direct and indirect speech and how to use it in our writing. We have been looking at the four word classes: nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs. We have been learning how to spell homophones.
In Maths, Year 6 have been learning how to find common denominators to order, add and subtract fractions - I think they are getting more confident each day. The children need to have a secure understanding of their times tables in order to calculate fractions. Year 5 are learning how to use the written method to multiply 3 and 4 digit numbers by a 1 digit number. Again, they need to be secure with their times table facts.
For our topic learning, we learnt about different types of bridges, then we designed a bridge and made a model of it, using card, straws, elastic bands and paper clips.
In P.E. we are looking at fitness and how to increase our heart rates. We also used the Speed Stacking Cups and had class competitions.
Year 6 had a Justice Talk with Alvin Shaw - they learnt how the justice system works and about law in our society.
