Happy New Year to you!
Welcome back, I hope you all had a great Christmas break.
The children came back excited to see each other, although tiredness was a struggle for most of them! But we eased into the new term gently.
Our topic this term is called Switched On and we will be mostly focusing on technology. Science is electricity and the children are excited to explore how to create circuits using switches and buzzers.
This week in Literacy, we used adjectives to write descriptive pieces for settings and characters and concluded the week with planning and writing a short story.
Next week we shall be writing our termly cold write and focusing on the story The Demon Headteacher over the following weeks.
In Maths, Year 5 concluded their learning on fractions, whilst Year 6 have been introduced to Ratio and Proportion. We will continue with this next week.
We also explored Tinkercad, which is a new website that we introduced before Christmas. The children all have their own passwords and they can access this at home. This week we looked at making circuits and designed a toy using electricity. Ask your child about it and they can show you!
PE is still on Friday this term. We will be covering fitness, gymnastics and hockey. Please ensure the correct PE kit is worn, children should wear black shorts/leggings/joggers and their team colour T shirt.
Don't forget that on Tuesday the children can dress up as a rock star.
Next Friday it is our class assembly. You are all welcome. It starts at 9.05am.
Have a restful weekend.
