Another week completed and the first month of 2021. What a start to 2021!
The children have been amazing with their online learning. In Literacy we have continued to read The Demon Headmaster. Every day, we have a video call where I read the chapter, followed by sharing the learning. The plot thickens and the children are beginning to unravel what is happening in the school. We have been writing diary entries, writing character descriptions. We have been using inference to answer questions about the chapter we have read.
In Maths, Year 5 have been looking at Fractions, with regular video calls with their teachers to make sure they understand their learning. Year 6 have continued with Algebra, which is quite a difficult concept to understand, but they have been stars.
In Topic we have looked the pros and cons of using robots in the workplace, with a focus on a car factory. This led to an interesting conversation. We also chose a gadget to research, to find out how it changed over time. We found out about the television, computers, DVD's and had a live demonstration of how a record player works. Thank you James and Isla.
We continued with our PSHE learning about being kind to ourselves and kind to others and how we can support others and find our own support for our wellbeing.
The children are being asked to collect resources over the next week so that they can make their electronic toy that they designed in the first week.
