What a bizarre and exciting week! The first snow of the year. This did not stop us from completing our online learning, in fact we made this part of some of our learning for well-being.
In Literacy, we watched some episodes of the CBBC series 'The Demon Headmaster' and some of us watched it together via Teams. We spent the week planning, writing and editing our own story based on The Demon Headmaster.
In Maths, Year 5 started the week off with problem solving. As the week went on, we have looked at negative numbers and line graphs. Year 6 have looked at using the 4 operations to solve calculations and word problems.
We have completed our topic learning. We had the opportunity to explore Scratch: a coding and gaming program. We also discussed Safety Internet Day and how to keep safe online and that sometimes news is fake and not to believe everything we read online.
Well-being Wednesday enabled us to spend some time away from our screens. This week we could enjoy time in the snow. Daniel made a snow cat; his own cats often join our video calls. Some children did arts and crafts activities, some did reading or watching movies with their family. Some were baking. Poppy made some cookies last week. For some, just tidying their bedroom is good for well-being. We also looked at some of the traditions of Chinese New Year which is being celebrated today (12.2.21).
We have had an amazing term. Everyone has worked so hard, showing great resilience. You all deserve a well-earned rest, so have a lovely half term break and we shall be back for learning on Tuesday 23.2.21.
