We have been working really hard this week. We changed our timetable slightly and swapped English and Maths, as we felt we needed longer for writing. This has made a huge difference to the writing being produced.
In Literacy, we have continued with reading Cosmic, which we are finding really funny. We have continued with writing persuasive texts, emails, an argument and diary entries. Mr Frith brought in some 'space' food (strawberries), for us to try. There were mixed reactions.
In Maths, Year 5 have continued with fractions. We have been multiplying mixed number fractions and finding fractions of amounts. In Year 6, we have been learning about ratio and the strategies used to find ratio.
For our topic learning we have designed a Rover that could explore Mars, we have continued to find out about the solar system and how night and day occurs. For PSHE we are focussing on social media. We seem to have a group of children who are being unkind via WhatsApp. This is not acceptable and often leads to arguments in school. We will be contacting parents if the children cannot use this app sensibly.
The weather has not been very kind to us this week for P.E. but we managed to have a team building lesson with Cherry Class. This was great fun with plenty of laughter. One of the activities was to get into groups of 6-8 and try to all fit inside a hoop.
Home learning will resume next week via Teams, so please make sure you and your child have remembered the passwords to access this.
Next week we will be on the field at lunch time. Please refer to the message about children bringing in old trainers or wellies in a carrier bag that they can change into at play times. They can bring them in on Monday and take them home on Friday.
Have a lovely weekend.
