What a busy term we have had and it's only been 2 weeks!
In Literacy we have been learning about poetry. We have discussed what poetry is and looked at the features of different types of poems. We have explored rhyming patterns and written short rhyming poems. This week we have looked at Haikus and Kennings and have written our own poems. The children have really enjoyed reading and writing poems and they are developing their skills to 'perform' poetry as part of their reading.
In Maths, Year 5 have been exploring angles. Consolidating their knowledge of the different types of angles, whilst learning to measure them using a protractor. Year 6 have been exploring pie charts and line graphs and this week we have looked at BODMAS to help solve mixed calculation number problems. We too have been exploring angles but looking at how to find missing angles.
Our topic is IT based so we have just started to explore SketchUp. SketchUp is an intuitive 3D modelling application that lets you create and edit 2D and 3D models with a patented “Push and Pull” method. The Push and Pull tool allows designers to extrude any flat surface into 3D shapes. All you have to do is click an object and then start pulling it until you like what you see. We will also be using a program called Scratch.
In Science, we have researched facts about our eyes and ears to understand how they work.
In P.E. this term we are doing athletics and have just started looking at sprinting.
