What a busy week!
This week in literacy, we continued to read the story Cosmic. We have used persuasive language to write a letter, we have written descriptions and made comparisons to other texts.
In maths, Year 5 have started to look at decimal numbers and have been reading, writing and comparing numbers with up to 3 decimal places. They have been looking at fractions and their decimal equivalents: 1/10 = 0.1, 2/10 = 0.2, 1/100 = 0.001 2/100 = 0.002 and so on. Year 6 have had a SATs practice week in preparation for their SATs in May.
in art, we explored different techniques using watercolour paints. We looked at the effects of using too much/little water, how the paints work on dry/wet paper and how using oil pastels gives a resistance to the water. We used this techniques to create artwork with a 'space' theme.
In science the children have explored their own questions about the solar system. They researched facts about the different planets and completed a table with their information.
In PSHE we discussed and looked at different pressure groups. We focused on Keep Britain Tidy and created information on how we could support them and how we could 'Keep Britain Tidy'.
in PE we continued to learn about badminton, build up towards having a tournament and in dance we are creating performances to the theme tune for Mission Impossible.
Well done to all of the children who dressed up for World Book Day. It was great to see so many children dress up as a book character.
Over the next few weeks the children in Year 6 will be coming home with some SATs style revision for home learning. Please ensure they do this. In the summer terms, we will be spending time supporting them with their transition to secondary school.
Have a great weekend.
