Week 3 17.9.21

A great week of learning for Years 5 and 6.
In Literacy we have continued to read Kensuke's Kingdom. We have now discovered that Michael fell overboard the Peggy Sue, along with his dog Stella. He was washed up on an island and is all alone: or so he thinks, until he wakes up to discover he has been left water, fish and red bananas. We have written postcards, animal descriptions and a diary entry this week.
In Numeracy, Year 5 have been looking at place value and in particular negative numbers. They have been counting backwards and forwards with positive and negative numbers across zero.
Year 6 have been rounding 7-digit numbers to the nearest 10, 100, 1000, 10,000, 100,000 and 1,000,000.
In topic we have been looking at the Human and Physical features of Cape Verde. This was one of the islands that Michael travelled to in Kensuke's Kingdom.
In Science we have been looking at the classification of animals by looking at their features and identifying their animal groups.
P.E. after school clubs will start from next week for Years 5 and 6. A letter has been sent home. Please make sure you have signed the letter and returned it by Monday 20.9.21. It will be a first come, first serve basis.
Football training starts on the 17.9.21 with Mrs Morris for those who have signed up. Please bring your football kit to school to change into after school.
Please support your child to sign into their Teams account and access their class Team. If you are having issues, pleaseĀ email us at:
