Good morning,

These are useful science websites, just to explore ideas. Your parents might have to set up an account with their email address, but they are free to use, and full of fascinating ideas and videos.

To support this week's science, search for light and sound investigations and activities.

Today's literacy home learning is:

1) Read chapter 3

2) Complete the online activities

3) Complete the writing activity:

WOW, chapter 3 was eventful wasn't it... A huge attack from the supervillains!

No one was expecting it were they?

The author created a real sense of panic amongst the superheroes.

Your task today is to tell me how the author created a sense of panic within the writing.

Did the author:

  • Mention a threat but not say what it was?
  • Mention that the characters didn't know what to do?
  • Mention that the characters couldn't communicate effectively?
  • Make the characters question themselves?
  • Distort the character's senses?
  • Create a sense of hopelessness?

Think about all of these, refer back to the text and explain to me how the author created a sense of panic.

What did the author do well?

Once you've done this, you could challenge yourself further...

Use the above tools to write a short story of your own in which you create your own sense of panic using the same tools that our author has.

Enjoy. Tomorrow we'll be moving on chapter 4.
