Good Morning

I hope you are all well and enjoying the sunshine - it's been really hot over the last few days hasn't it?

Continue with your musical instruments - I can't wait to see them all.

This week's story is starting to get interesting isn't it...

Today's learning is:

1) Read chapter 3 (it's an action-packed one)

2) Complete the online activities (I'm extremely impressed with lots of your quiz scores)

3) Complete the writing activities:

Firstly, Babajid speaks in a bit of a strange way doesn't he, his English isn't perfect. So your challenge is to copy out his speech and then re-write it so it makes sense. Think about the verbs, nouns and pronouns he's using and the order in which he's using them.

Secondly, in this chapter we're introduced to Kisin the death-god. Your challenge is to describe this character. The author gives us some detail about the appearance. But there's lots more you could infer from what you've read.

  • Has Kisin been seen by many people? What does this mean (mystical, unknown, mythological)?
  • Where do his earth-shaking powers come from? Is he able to crack the earth by using his mental or physical strength?
  • Why is he feared? Have the characters ever actually seen the death-god hurt anyone? Maybe he's just trying to make friends but he doesn't know how? Maybe he's trapped underground?
  • We've had a few features revealed (the top of his skull is the size of a capsized boat etc) so can you make a prediction about how big the god is?

So, describe the character by using what the authors told us and also by using what the author hasn't told us.

Enjoy. Tomorrow we'll be moving onto chapter 4.
