Week ending Friday 10th September 2021

Hello everyone and welcome to our first blog on the new school year 2021-22!!

An excellent, busy, hot (very!!) start to the week, where the Year 5's enjoyed a fantastic day out at the local Kent Police Headquarters. The displays, the stands (especially the Border Police Force and Cyber Crimes) were fascinating - also some lucky children managed to try on police armour and sit in high-speed pursuit vehicles and police motorbikes!

In Literacy, we began our new text 'Kensuke's Kingdom' which ties in nicely with our new topic called 'Earth As An Island'. We wrote in the first person as a young boy about to set sail around the world, and debated reasons for and against travelling ourselves!

In Numeracy, both year groups are taught separately and both became immersed in numbers and place value up to 6 and 7 digits!

In PE, we are fortunate to have an outside PE agency to support our sessions and that will continue throughout this term on a Thursday.

Finally in RE today, we looking at the idea of 'commitment' and how the children are committed to various activities in their lives.

Have a lovely weekend everyone
