Week ending Friday 15th October 2021

The end of our penultimate week this term, and what a successful week it has been!

The children have been immersed with the learning, especially with our new class text ('Flotsam') linked to Climate Change. We have enjoyed some excellent whole-class discussions, the children have written their own information text on this subject and also today have written a letter in the first person to Greta Thunberg, the child activist passionate about climate change.

In Numeracy, Year 5 have moved away from calculations this week and spent time investigating line graphs, using the data presented to answer questions, drawing their own line graph examples and using reasoning to answer word problems. Year 6 have looked at long multiplication of three digit numbers and multiplying and dividing using 10, 100 and 1000 and decimal numbers.

We had a very enjoyable Geography session/s linked to islands and maps, where we discussed what a community would need if they relocated and the children drew a map of their island showing key physical and human geographical characteristics.

Have a great weekend everyone!
