It has been a full on first week, and the children have been getting stuck in to their new topic of Shake It. We have been looking at different states of matter and how to change substances between solid, liquids and gases. In Literacy we are reading George's Marvellous Medicine by Roald Dahl. We have been writing character descriptions using noun phrases, and looking at how to use conjunctions to create complex and compound sentences.
In Maths we have all been looking at perimeter and how to use squares to calculate perimeter by counting them. Year 4 have progressed with this using different units, and measuring the sides of rectilinear shapes to calculate the perimeters.
In Science we used balloons to look at the different states of matter and how the molecules change within the same container. In DT we have been looking at designing our own smoothies. We looked at existing products and the designs of the bottles and the ingredients they use. We evaluated how each would appeal to customers and then in groups designed our own smoothies which will be be making later in the term.
We hope you have a lovely weekend.
