Week 7

We cannot believe the first term is already over. The children have all worked so hard and have settled brilliantly into their new classes. We have loved seeing the progress they have already made. We have finished off the term in Literacy by writing some spooky poems based on the book Funny Bones. The children have looked at how to use repetition and onomatopoeia to make their poems even better.

In Maths, Year 4 have been looking at inverse operations and worded problems, using their column addition and subtraction skills to solve more challenging problems. Year 3 have been looking at problem solving activities, looking for key words to work out which operation is needed.

In Topic we have completed our learning on island by looking at maps. The children created their own island maps using symbols and coordinates, before using OS maps to practice using four figure grid references to locate features on a map.

Next term our topic will be ‘Temples, Tombs and Treasures’ based on the Ancient Egyptians. We will also be having the PE coaches next term so PE days will change for all Year 3/4 classes.

Maple and Elm – Tuesday

Walnut – Thursday

Please continue to send children in wearing their indoor PE kits; this is black shorts, plimsolls and a plain coloured t-shirt the colour of their team.

We hope you have a restful half term.
