Reading Records

Your child would have been given a brand new reading record on their first day of school. This is to go home and every time you read with your child, please sign the reading record to show that they have been listened to at home.

Reading records should be in school every day but are collected every Friday so I can see how much reading your child is doing at home. Reading is a crucial part of your child’s future and a fundamental part of their education as it supports their literacy skills as well. It is therefore important that they are reading at least 4 times a week with you at home. This might only be for 10 minutes whilst you are preparing dinner, but it is vital that they are experiencing reading regularly.

It is our mission at Park Way to ensure that all children are confident with their reading so books are sent home with them to share with you. We would be grateful for your support in encouraging your child to read to you as often as possible to progress their fluency and understanding.

Inside your child's reading record is also a bookmark. Every Friday when reading records have been collected, your child will receive a sticker on their bookmark and once they are filled, they will get a prize for all their amazing reading.
