Term 6 week 1 blog

Hello :)

A huge welcome back to everyone! I hope you had a lovely half term break and have come back refreshed and ready to learn!

This week we have begun to look at instruction writing. In our topic lessons we are going to be focusing on the Olympics including the geography of where it has been hosted and the history behind the games so we are using this learning to help us. We have looked at following instructions and the importance of chronological order and had a go at writing our own instructions for a playground game.

This week, Year 1's have been looking at finding a quarter of shapes and quantities. They are using their knowledge of finding halves at the end of last term to help them and have begun applying their knowledge to problems.

Year 2's have been just as busy looking at using a written method to add 2 digit numbers. We have begun to look at partitioning numbers into tens and ones in order to add using a column method.

We have been busy this week with P.E. lessons where we started to look at the different sports that might be played during Olympic games. We have also started to look at the Jewish faith in our R.E. lessons and continued to focus on our music and art skills.

Please remember home learning is handed out on a Friday and is due back the following Thursday.

Reading records should be in school DAILY but are checked every Friday.

P.E. this term is on a Wednesday. Please ensure that your child has their long hair tied up, their earrings removed and are in the correct kit.
