Term 1, Week 4

I can't believe we are at the end of week 4 already! What a busy week it has been. In Literacy we have moved on to looking at instructional writing and will be looking at different survival skills in the coming weeks. This children have enjoyed designing their own playground games with a set of rules and instructions to go with them.

In Maths, Year 4 have been finishing off looking at place value by practicing rounding to nearest thousand, and converting numbers to Roman numerals. Year 3 have been looking at place value also, practice their partitioning and adding multiples of 10 to numbers.

In our topic, we have been looking at the famous scientist Charles Darwin and his work on the Galapagos Islands. The children have written their own diary entries as if they were Darwin and how he would have felt first arriving on the island and seeing all of the unique wildlife for the first time. In Science we have looked at the importance of muscles in the body, and the children have completed the bleep test to see how much their muscles can endure.

As the weather gets colder, please make sure children are coming to school with jumpers and coats where needed. We would also like to thank parents for supporting us with sending children with the right PE kits and trainers on PE days.

We hope you have a lovely weekend.
