Oak Class have worked super hard this week to master fractions. We can now recognise 1/2, 1/4, 3/4 and 1/3 and calculate these fractions of a quantity using a bar model. Some of us have learnt how to use our times table knowledge to do this. We have also learnt about equivalent fractions and have investigated how 1/2 = 2/4.
In Literacy we have continued to write about The Great Fire of London. The children imagined themselves in London in 1666 on the night the fire began and then wrote diary entries using different types of punctuation.
In Science we enjoyed learning about the needs of a pet and what kind of care, food and shelter they need.
Finally on Friday morning we had great fun recreating the Great Fire of London. We made Tudor houses out of paper and then placed them close together on the playground to observe how quickly the fire would have spread in 1666.
