Term 1 - Week 2 Blog

Hello and a huge well done to the children of Oak Class for their outstanding learning this week :)

We have really settled back into school life and have begun to use our books this week, recording our amazing learning and showing off our presentation skills. We have been working on our number knowledge in maths and have taken advantage of the lovely weather to head outdoors to do our learning! It has been a great experience and we can now confidently represent numbers in lots of different ways! We are also becoming pros at our number bonds which is amazing.

In literacy, we have been focusing on our sentence structure. We have been linking this to our new topic of the Victorians and have spent the week looking at how our lives today are very different to some children in the Victorian times. We have looked at how some children had to go to work as young as 4 or 5 in Victorian England and all agreed that living in 2020 is much better!

Next week, we are continuing to look at our sentences focusing on punctuation in literacy and number bonds and place value in maths. To help support you at home, please find some additional learning below that you can be doing at home.

Reminder:

  1. This week we have sent our first piece of home learning home. This is due back by Thursday (24.09.20) to allow us time to look over the learning before the next piece is sent out. If you need any help with your child's home learning, please send me an email.
  2. Please remember to come to school on Monday in your P.E. kits. If you have long hair it should be tied up and earrings should be removed before you come to school.
  3. Please try to read with your child every day to support their progress and sign their reading record so I can see what you have been up to at home. I have attached a guide to support your child with their reading at home below.
