Good Morning.  Welcome to June and Term 6!
I hope you all had a lovely break and managed to stay alert, by socially distancing yourself if you went out to the park or for daily exercise.

We shall start this term with the Olympics topic.  This week:


1. Find out about the history of the Olympics. What are they? When did they start? How did they begin? Where did they start?
Create an information text about the Olympics. You can present it how you like: Poster, Fact File, Leaflet, Power Point etc.

2. Watch one of the following videos or all of them as they are only short.

What makes a good Olympic event?
Choose one of the events that you have just watched. Write a persuasive text to say why it should be in the Olympics, remember to write it in the first person and give reasons to justify your choice.

3. If it is possible, set up a mini Olympics in your garden or at the park, remembering to stay alert. How does it make you feel?

Here is your Literacy home learning for Term 6 Week 1.
We’ll be continuing to use Fiction Express and this week’s book is: Wolf War (reading level 3).

Monday
Write a prediction
Read chapter 1
Complete the online activities
Write a description of the wolf
Extension – think about and write a description of the most unusual/rare wild animal you’ve seen.

Tuesday
Read chapter 2
Complete the online activities
Peter had already phoned the RSPCA about a wolf sighting but they didn’t believe him. Write a letter from Peter to the RSPCA describing what he’s see of the wolf over the last two days and what they need to do. Research the RSPCA if you are unsure of their roles and responsibilities.

Wednesday
Read chapter 3
Complete the online activities
Why is the bearded man on their side? What can he do to help the children? Write a dialogue between the bearded man and the children about how and why he’s come to help.

Thursday
Read chapter 4
Complete the online activities
Write to describe the fear Cooper and Nela would have been feeling as they watched Peter approach the giant wolf’s cage and type in the code to the key-pad.

Friday
Read chapter 5
Complete the online activities
Write a summary of the story in less than 50 words.
Extension – write a summary of the story in exactly; 30/20/10 words.
Write a book review
