Our first full week of the academic year is complete and what an amazing week it has been.
In Literacy we've been introduced to our new story: Kensuke's Kingdom. We've made a prediction about what we think could happen throughout the story, read chapter one, took part in a debate/discussion about if we would like to sail around the world, wrote a letter from the main character (Michael) to his best friend (Eddie) and finally researched the Cape Verde Islands where the yacht has stopped in the story. A great first week of writing.
In Maths both our Year 5's and Year 6's have been learning about the place value of numbers up to a million. We've used this information to help us complete problem solving activities as well as open-ended mastery questions.
In Topic we've introduced to our new topic: Earth as an Island through which we've looked at foods from around the world and looked at the difference between island life and globalisation.
A great first full week back. Thank you everyone for your huge effort.
See you on Monday.
