It has been a busy first week back, and the children are really beginning to settle into their new classroom and new routines. We have started our Literacy learning looking at the story of Stig of the Dump, about a young boy who finds a caveman living in the dump. We have practised writing noun phrases and also looked at different sentence types.
In Maths we have all been looking at place value and how to partition and represent numbers in different ways.
During the afternoons we have started learning about the Stone Age which is our topic this term. We looked at some Stone age cave paintings and then recreated these by trying to draw on the bottoms of our desk, while lying down and in the dark! We concluded that the people who drew the original cave paintings would have to have been very resilient. In Science we looked at the Stone age diet and what types of food they would have eaten. In Art we looked at different techniques for using oil pastels. The children used the different techniques to draw fruit. Have a look at Evie and Samyok's learning below.
Please remember that Tuesday is our PE day and we will be swimming starting next Thursday.
Have a lovely weekend,
Mr Saunders and Mrs Mallon.
