Term 1, Week 4

The children have had another great week at school and they have been busy learning.
In our Literacy lessons this week we listened to the story 'The Gingerbread Man'. We discussed what happened in the story and how the lady baked the Gingerbread Man. We had a look at a recipe, and spoke about what they are used for and what they consist of, such as numbered instructions and ingredients. We then followed a recipe to create our own Gingerbread scented playdough. The children really enjoyed this experience and took turns adding the ingredients, carefully following the instructions.
In Maths we have been working in groups to learn about 'Matching, Sorting and Comparing'.
We learnt the concept of matching physical objects to one another, such as matching all the pencils together, matching all the Numicon pieces together and so on. We looked at identifying our own set, sorting objects by a type and encouraging us to spot the odd one out of four objects and to explain why.  Lastly, we compared amounts but sorting two sets of objects into two different hoops. Once sorted, we then decided which hoop contained "'more/less" objects and then we counted them to check.
In PE this week we continued moving in different ways. We even pretended we were hippos and had fun moving like a hippo, reaching out to eat like a hippo and rolling around in mud like a hippo!!
For PSHE we recapped the story of the Colour Monster from last week, we decorated feelings jars and matched the emotion flashcard, to the correct colour jar i.e. anger was put on the red jar etc.
Our PSED lesson this week gave us the opportunity to think about rules, what they are and why we need them. We then created a mind map of which rules we have in our class and at school. The children did well at explaining why these rules are important to follow.
Thank you for your continued support.
Have a lovely weekend.
