Term 1, Week 4

Apples and Pears have done so well in adjusting to attending school full days.
In our Literacy lessons this week, the children listened to the story 'Little Red Riding Hood' and answered questions about what happened in the story. We then spent the week completing tasks linked to the story such as creating a story map, drawing items we could put in Little Red Riding Hood's basket to take to Grandma's house, and creating a list of items.
This week in Maths we learned about matching, sorting and comparing, by completing the following learning challenges:
  • Matching objects
  • Match pictures and objects
  • Identifying a set of objects
  • Sorting objects to a type
In PSHE the children listened to the story 'The Colour Monster' and we used this story to help them learn about feelings and emotions, linking this to our own experiences. 
Our PSED lesson this week gave the children the opportunity to think about and list the school rules. We discussed why rules are so important.
Important reminders:
  • All children should have a PE kit in school
  • All items of clothing MUST be clearly labelled with your child's name. This includes shoes, PE items, coats and water bottles must also be labelled too.
  • Children are required to bring in a water bottle each day, this should only have water in it
  • Please ensure your child is bringing their reading record and reading book to school everyday.
  • Ensure your child has read each week and you have written a comment in their reading rerecord. This must be done prior to their 'reading day' at school (your child's reading day has been written on the first page of their reading record) in order for your child's book to be changed.
  • Children should not be wearing hoop earrings, only small studs are allowed to be worn in school. 
  • Earrings must be removed on PE days (Mondays)
  • If you have not done so already please set up your child's Scopay account. These details were given to you on our home visit
  • Please ensure your child brings in a coat everyday, as we use the outdoor provision in all weathers
