Term 1 Week 6!

What a busy and productive week we've had in Year 3 and 4!

PE
This week, we combined our maths and PE skills by incorporating addition and point scoring into our team games. The children showed fantastic effort, communicating effectively with one another while demonstrating responsibility and honesty throughout the activities. With Coach Ross, the children also continued developing their cricket skills, focusing on improving their batting techniques.

Maths
In maths, we explored the connections between numbers and how different number facts link together. We have also been continuing to practise our multiplication skills during our daily starters. Please encourage your child to practise these at home, either through TT Rockstars or other methods. Times tables knowledge is a vital skill that helps children solve a wide range of mathematical problems more confidently.

Literacy
We have been very busy completing and recording our Newsround videos this week. The children should be incredibly proud of their efforts in front of the camera! Alongside this, they planned and completed their newspaper articles, applying many of the features we have been learning about.

Science
In science, we continued learning about the digestive system. The children took part in a walk-through of the digestive process and labelled the key organs involved, helping them understand how food travels through and is processed by the body.

RE
We continued exploring the Hindu faith, learning more about Hindu beliefs and practices. The children also had thoughtful discussions where they shared and reflected on their own beliefs and values.

Art
It was certainly a messy week in art! The children created their own salt dough Stone Age necklaces using the designs they had previously planned. They carefully crafted and decorated their pieces to resemble materials that Stone Age people may have used, such as bone, teeth, stone and other natural resources.

History
Our Stone Age learning continued as we explored how people lived during this period and considered the evidence historians use to learn about the past. The children's growing knowledge of the Stone Age is really starting to shine through in discussions and activities.

Class Conference
During our class conference, we discussed the importance of showing our feelings in ways that do not hurt or disrespect others. We thought carefully about how to express ourselves honestly whilst remaining kind and respectful to those around us.

Reading Reminder
A gentle reminder to please ensure that children are reading regularly at home and that reading records are signed. Some reading records are being handed in without any evidence of reading completed. Regular reading makes a huge difference to children's confidence, fluency and understanding, as well as being a skill we use in every lesson so your support is greatly appreciated.
