Term 1 Week 7!

This week has been a wonderful mixture of creativity, teamwork and thoughtful learning. Whether solving maths problems, comparing historical periods or practising emergency response skills, the children have approached every opportunity with enthusiasm and maturity.

PE
In PE, the children enjoyed a range of team games with time challenges, which encouraged them to think logically, communicate effectively and work together. With Coach Ross, they continued developing their batting, bowling and fielding skills. We are looking forward to seeing these skills put into action next week when we take on Maple Class in some cricket games!

Maths
This week, we explored connections between numbers and revised our 4 times tables. The children were also introduced to using the column method for addition and subtraction without exchanging. They then applied these skills successfully to a range of word problems.

Literacy
In Literacy, we learned about the prefix "inter-" and continued developing our use of adjectives and expanded noun phrases. The children then applied these skills in a creative writing piece based on Stonehenge, linking beautifully with our Stone Age topic.

Science
Our exploration of the digestive system continued this week. The children demonstrated a good understanding of how to keep their bodies healthy and created informative and eye-catching Healthy Gut Posters.

RE
In RE, we continued our learning about the Hindu faith, focusing on the Hindu creation story and discussing its importance to believers.

Art
The children reflected on and evaluated the Stone Age necklaces they created last week, considering what they were most proud of and how they could improve their work further.

History
As part of our history learning, we compared life in the Stone Age and the Iron Age, identifying key similarities and differences between these fascinating periods.

Class Conference
During our Class Conference, we focused on the important skill of turn-taking, ensuring everyone had the opportunity to listen carefully and contribute respectfully.

Restart a Heart Day
One of the highlights of the week was taking part in 'Restart a Heart'. Children brought in their teddies and learned the fundamentals of CPR, as well as how and when to call 999 in an emergency. They approached this important learning with remarkable maturity and responsibility, and we were incredibly impressed by the thoughtful questions they asked and the seriousness with which they took part.

A Gentle Reminder
Parents' Evening will take place on Tuesday and Thursday next week. We look forward to meeting with you and celebrating the progress your children have made so far this year.
