Term 2, Week 7

The children have had a really busy week preparing for the Christmas festivities.
On Tuesday afternoon Apples and Pears (along with the rest of the school) were lucky enough to watch sixth form students from Valley Park perform a pantomime.
In our Literacy lessons this week we have been learning about cards and why we send them. We had a look at various card designs and chose the one we wanted to create for our families. Our learning challenge this week was to write the insert for our cards, remembering the type of language required such as 'To' and 'from'.
In Maths we have been learning about 'My day and night'. The children spent time thinking about the different events that happen throughout the day, from morning to night, at home and at school. We spoke about how we know its is day or night and the type of activities we complete depending on the time of day, such as having breakfast, brushing out teeth etc. The children then had a look at our class visual timetables and ordered the events of the school day.
In PSHE this week we continued learning about 'diversity'. We worked with a partner and took turns looking in a mirror learning about what colour eyes/hair/skin tone we have and how this may differ from our peers. We reminded the children that although we all look different, we are all special and important.
During our PSED lesson, we reflected on all we have learned about 'kindness' and being a good friend. As a class we created a mind map of all the ways we could be a good friend to someone.
This morning Apples and Pears performed their play 'Whoops - a - Daisy Angel' for the whole school. The children did an absolutely amazing job! Well done to all of them, we are so proud of them all!
