Term 3, Week 5

This week we have been discussing ‘Valentines Day’. The children have discussed people they love and how we show this on Valentines Day. In Literacy, we wrote a card insert focussing on using our phonics to be able to support us with writing each word.  We designed the front of our Valentines cards using a heart template and choosing from a range of paint to print our fingers around the heart, leaving a heart imprint on our front cover.

In Maths we have looked at Growing 6, 7, 8. Our activities in involved combining two groups, pairs and doubles. We started with making pairs using a range of resources. We then used numicon to find our doubles and show it matched. Also, we painted a sheet of paper with some dots to make doubles up to ten. We then folded the paper to show that doubles have to have the same on both sides. Lastly, we used our ten frames to make two groups of either 6, 7, or 8. Some of us extended our learning and were able to write a number sentence too.

In PHSE we discussed feelings and emotions and linked this back to our lesson last week on strategies to help us when we are feeling sad or angry. This week we completed some running races and spoke about winning and losing. The children were all very good at supporting each other and cheering one another on. They were good at expressing their feelings after the race and suggesting some of last weeks strategies to support their feelings and calming techniques.

Thank you for your continued support this term,

Have a lovely weekend,

The EYFS Team.
