Term 4, Week 6

In our Literacy lessons this week, the children learned all about the story of Easter. Throughout the week the children have shown their understanding of the story by completing various tasks. These tasks involved creating a list of all the people involved in the Easter story, ordering the main events from the story, roleplaying the story and lastly, today Apples and Pears wrote a sentence about Easter.
This week in Maths we have covered the following learning topics:
  • Identify more complex patterns
  • Copy and continue patterns
  • Patterns in the environment
In our PSHE lesson, the children were excited to go on a treasure hunt! This term the children have been learning about the importance of listening carefully, by completing various challenges. Their listening was put to the test, while on a treasure hunt. Apples and Pears read a series of clues, each clue leading to the next, which eventually lead them to the treasure. Both classes successfully completed the treasure hunt and received their treasure....pompoms to add to their class reward jar!
Our PSED lesson this week gave us the opportunity to discuss healthy eating and exercise, and the positive impact this has on our health. The children learned which foods and drink were healthy and unhealthy. As a class the children were then challenged to sort healthy and unhealthy foods into the correct list, using the interactive whiteboard.
The children will be bringing their bean plants home today. We would be really grateful if parents could support the children in taking care of their plant. Feel free to post updates on Tapestry for us to see! The children can also use these pictures to add a new drawing to their bean diary at school.
The children have continued to work hard on their learning all term and they are looking forward to a well-earned break.
Reminders:
  • As always, we are sending the children's PE kits and water bottles home for the holidays. Please ensure these are brought back to school on our return.
  • On Tuesday 21st April, Apples and Pears will be learning about festivals in our PSHE lesson. The learning objective of the lesson is for the children to understand that we all have different beliefs and celebrate special times in different ways. Therefore, if you have any photos of your child celebrating a festival, please could you send them in for us to use as part of our discussion. Special events or festivals could include Diwali, Hanukkah, Solstice, Pride, Chinese New Year, Baptisms, weddings or different cultural or familial interpretations of festivals. Please do not send original photos in, copies of photos are ideal as they will be handled by the children throughout our learning and discussion.
Upcoming events:
Friday 24th April - Class photos
Tuesday 12th May - Open Classroom
We look forward to seeing you all on Monday 20th April.
Many thanks for your ongoing support.
Have a lovely Easter break.
