Welcome to our first webpage of the year for Cedar Class.
This week has been a settling back in after a long summer break week. We have been getting to know each other and learning the rules, routines and expectations.
In English, we have been recapping on previous learning about nouns, adjectives, verbs and adverbs ensuring we recognise them in our reading and writing.
In Maths, we split into Year 5 and Year 6 groups. Cedar Class Year 6 are with Mrs Rackley and Mrs Morris. The Year 5's are split between Mr Ramsden, Mrs Ellis and Mrs Pitcher. Mrs Ellis teaches Monday - Wednesday and Ms Pitcher teaches Thursday and Friday. We have all been focusing on place value. Year 5 need to read and write numbers up to 1,000,000 whilst Year 6 need to recognise numbers up to 10,000,000. Both year groups need to know the value of each digit in the number system.
We have also played team games in PE so that we can recognise each other's skills and learn to play as a team.
In DT we have been refreshing our knowledge on healthy food and the main food groups creating a healthy balanced 3 course meal.
In RE, we looked at what atheist, agnostic and theist means in terms of religious beliefs.
Next week we will start our English focused text called Kensuke's Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo.
