What a great week. Our first class assembly and they did really well considering we have only been back to school for 3 weeks.
Year 6 children had a webinar to find out about Kooth - finding out who they are and what they do. If you wish to know more you can find out more information at https://www.kooth.com.
In English this week we have started to read Kensuke's Kingdom. It is about a boy named Michael, his mum, dad and dog Stella Artois. They go sailing around the world and it's all about their adventures. We have wrote predictions, a letter to Michael's best friend Eddie, had a class debate to find out who would want to go sailing around the world and why. We finished the week off by writing an information text about Cape Verde.
In Maths, Year 5 have been looking at positions of numbers up to 1,000,000 on a number line. Comparing and ordering numbers up to 1,000,000 and rounding numbers within 1,000,000. Year 6 have been comparing and ordering numbers up to 10,000,000. They have been looking at positions on a number line, rounding numbers to the nearest 10, 100, 1,000, 10,000, 100,000 and 1,000,000. They have also looked at negative numbers by using addition and subtraction to solve problems.
In Science this week we have explored how non flowering plants, such as cones, reproduce.
In Geography, we have been learning about longitude and latitude and how to use these to find an exact location on a world map.
In DT we found out about a stew traditional to Cape Verde called Cachupa. We have come up with our own recipe of ingredients to make a stew before the end of term.
Golden Book
Charlotte and Oliver were in the Golden Book this week for their excellent behaviour and attitude towards their learning. Well done.
Reminders
PE kit should be black joggers/leggings/shorts and the team colour T shirt with the school jumper not a tracksuit hoodie. If you don't have your team colour T shirt it should be white.
Please label coats and jumpers so they don't get lost.
Home Learning - Children should be reading every day. They also have their TTRS and EdShed passwords. Spellings have been set on EdShed and we will focus on the spellings weekly.
Have a great weekend.
