Term 4 week 4 20.3.26

This week the children had a taster of skateboarding. They loved it. There will be a skateboarding after school club available after the Easter holidays. Mr Ramsden will be organising this.

Next Week

We are walking to St Martins Church on Tuesday morning (24th March) as part of our RE for this term.

On Friday 27th March we are going to Kent Life as part of our DT. THE CHILDREN MUST WEAR THEIR SCHOOL UNIFORM AND NOT THEIR PE KIT. Trainers can be worn. You must sign the consent form for your child to go. We will leave just after 9am and will be back for the end of the school day.

Parents’ Evening is on Tuesday (24.3.26) and Thursday (26.3.26). I look forward seeing you if you have made an appointment.

In English, we have continued to read Pig Heart Boy by Malorie Blackman. This week we have written diary entries from the point of view of Cameron and Marlon and a letter to the doctor performing the heart transplant. We are working on our editing skills to improve our writing with a focus on spelling and punctuation. We have also watched the film and made comparisons to the book.

This week in Maths, Year 5 have been consolidating their understanding of finding the area and perimeter compound and rectilinear shapes. Year 6 have been consolidating their understanding of reading and interpreting line graphs, bar charts and pie charts. They had to use their knowledge of percentages to solve problems with pie charts.

In Science, we explored how plants have adapted to their environment over time. We looked how the cactus survives in the desert and how waterlilies survive in water.

In DT, we have started to use Word to design a menu with seasonal foods.

In PE, we continued our dance and tennis topics. The Mission Impossible dance is progressing as we add more moves. In tennis we have learnt how to do an over arm serve and held rallies.

In Computing, we have continued to explore databases; how we can use them and why.
