What a fun busy week we have had! This week we went to St Martins Church as part of our RE.
We went to Kent Life on Friday to conclude our DT by looking at seasonal food. We had an amazing time. The children were respectful and engaged in the 2 workshops we did. We found out about different plants and animals in our Field to Fork workshop. We looked at different herbs, fruits and vegetables and fed the sheep. We especially loved the Grain to Fork workshop where we made bread and found out how yeast and flour work in the process.
It was also lovely to see so many of you at parents’ evening to discuss how your child is doing with their learning.
In English, having read Pig Heart Boy by Malorie Blackman, we spent the week planning the next chapter, writing it for our Hot Write and editing it.
This week in Maths, Year 5 have concluded their learning on area and perimeter and moved onto statistics. They were drawing line graphs and interpreting and reading graphs. Year 6 looked at how to find the mean, how to measure angles with a protractor and find missing angles that were adjacent and vertical.
In Science, we explored inheritance and discussed what we have inherited from our parents. We then looked at how some animals do not look like their parents. We did some research and wrote some information about them.
In DT, we completed our menus, using a menu template on Word to do so.
In PE. in tennis we were learning how to control the ball more and more.
In Computing, we have continued to explore databases, exploring how we can use databases and why.
