Cherry Class Blog 2025 26 Week 3

Welcome parents and carers to our latest Cherry Class Blog. The week whistled along at speed and the children worked sensibly across a wide range of subjects.

In Literacy, we finally got to start our class text 'Kensuke's Kingdom' and the children had the chance to write in role as the main character, a young boy called Michael who is about to embark on a holiday of a lifetime, sailing around the world.

In Numeracy, both year groups again looked at place value, and this week it was ordering and rounding large 6 and 7 digit numbers.

In Science we had a very enjoyable lesson midweek linked to seed dispersal and we investigated how pine cones create new seeds. Who knew that the male pollen of a pine cone looked like Mickey Mouse ears as it floats through the air looking for the the female cone?! In RE we looked at Christianity and reasons for and against believing in God.

We again were blessed with dry weather for our PE session on the playground and we had another enjoyable basketball session on the playground.

Just a reminder that on Monday the children can come to school wearing their normal school top and jeans for
a donation to the Jeans for Genes charity. Please give your donation to myself and I will pass it on to the office.

Have a great weekend everyone

Mr J Ramsden

P.S. Year 6 parents please sign your child up for Bikeability if they would like to do the course. It is over 3 days and bikes and helmets can be provided. Your child bought home a letter about Bikeability on Thursday 18th.
