Cherry Class Blog 2025 26 Week 4 Term 3

Welcome everyone to our latest Cherry Class blog

In Literacy this week we have concentrated predominantly on 'newspapers', their features (including opinions, rhetorical questions and concluding paragraph from the reporter's point of view) and looked at the correct use of quotations from eye witnesses.

In Numeracy, I have taught ALL of the Year 5's this week, not just Cherry Class and the children have enjoyed the opportunity the last three days to be in class with their friends and learn how to multiply fractions. Year 6 had their lessons 'as normal' and looked at decimal numbers.

We had a very enjoyable science investigation lesson yesterday involving baking soda, white vinegar, balloons and chemical reactions! The class really enjoyed themselves and worked sensibly throughout.

In PE we had a gymnastics session in the hall and the children used various apparatus to link balances with a partner.

In History we looked at the separate roles that Mayan men and women 'had' in terms of work and also looked at the differences between rich and poor
