Welcome everyone to our latest Cherry class blog. This week has sped by, and I cannot believe we only have three weeks remaining of the term/year at school.
In Literacy, the class have really embraced the idea of writing poetry in the style of a rap, and worked collaboratively with a partner (or in some cases individually) to produce a poem/rap on a subject they were passionate about. Ideas ranged from tech, football, Christmas, their bed (!) and I was so pleased with the efforts made to maintain a rhythm and a rhyme in many cases.
In Numeracy, Year 6 have continued their learning linked to measures and converting between different units of measurement, whilst Year 5 looked at fraction subtraction, including between two mixed numbers.
Year 5/6 have had a slightly different week in terms of their afternoon lessons as this week has been 'Parliament Week' and we have been engaged in a series of lessons looking at Parliament, how it is 'made up' and what they do, writing an email to our local MP about an local issue (the traffic situation and roadworks in Maidstone 'may' have got a mention or two!!) and having a lovely debate about whether school uniform should be worn at Park Way Primary School.
Have a great weekend everyone.
Regards
Mr Ramsden and Miss StokesĀ
