This week in our Literacy we have been preparing for our hot writes. We began by deciding on the different paragraphs and sections we would like to include and making sure we had all the facts about caves that we needed. We then wrote our non-chronological reports using all of the language features that we have been looking at throughout the term.
In Maths, Year 3 moved onto measurement, identifying mm, cm and m. They accurately read and drew lines using these units of measurements and found which unit an object would be measured in and why. They started to convert measurements e.g. understanding that 10mm=1cm and therefore 35mm=3.5cm. Year 4 have been learning about perimeter. We started by counting squares to find the perimeter. We then used addition to find the areas of rectangles. Finally we finished the week by finding the missing lengths of rectilinear shapes and adding them up to find the perimeter.
In Geography we were learning about super volcanoes and what the impacts could be if they erupted. We looked at the features of Yellowstone National Park and how the supervolcano underneath it causes some of its most famous natural features. In Music we continued to look at rhythm and tempo and composed a short piece of music using musical notes to show the tempo. In computing we were learning to create circuits to transmit code. We used the micro-bits and connected wires to the pin ports to allow us to send signals via our body and complete the circuit to make musical instruments. Elm managed to pass the circuit through 8 children!
We hope you have a lovely weekend.
