Autumn Term 1 - Week 5

Week 5

Hello everyone! What an exciting week we've had in class! In Maths, we've been busy practising our number bonds to 10 and 20, using Numicon and Tens Frames. This hands-on approach has really helped us spot patterns, and we've been enthusiastically recording our findings in our books.

In English, the Year 2s have started crafting their own versions of 'The Pirate Cruncher' by Jonny Duddle. We've discovered that every sentence features a 'who' and a 'what'. Year 2 children have eagerly added their own pirates to the story - creativity abound!

In Science, we had a marvellous time building ships from various materials. We learned that sponge ships just don't cut it, as they soaked up too much water and became unstable. Lastly, in Geography, we explored physical and human features, sorting out places such as ports, beaches, and valleys. What a fantastic week of learning!
