Autumn Term 2 - Week 3

Week 3

We have continued to dive into the world of Paddington and this week have begun to write our own information texts about the Tower of London. We have learnt that the Tower of London has had many purposes over the years including being a prison, menagerie, fortress and now a museum that holds the Crown Jewels.

In Maths we have been revisiting place value by extending our knowledge further with Year 1s looking at numbers up to 30 and Year 2s exploring numbers up to 100. We have been counting in 10s and creating numbers using apparatus.

In Science this week we explored what material would be most suitable for a house. We learnt that SUITABLE means it is just right for its purpose. We created houses out of wood, plastic, metal, paper and fabric. Then we used a hairdryer to mimic wind, used paperclips to represent hail stones and sprayed water on our houses to investigate if the material was waterproof.

In R.E we looked at symbols that are important to Christians and their meanings. This included the crucifix, dove, fish and candle. We then created our own stain glass windows. Please check our Teams page for photos soon.
