Autumn Term 2 - Week 8

Week 8

Well done to all the children for putting on an amazing performance of Lights, Camel, Action! The dances were brilliant and the singing even better!

This week in Maths we have been recapping our knowledge of shapes. We have been practising naming 3D shapes with a Christmas theme. The children had to wrap up 3D shapes, name them and describe their properties. They have also been continuing shape patterns and created their own. We also learnt the names of the months of the year and then had to sort out what months fall in which season. We created our own calendars and will be bringing them home.

In English we have learnt some new 'Tricky Words' and have been practising using Fred Fingers to spell words.  We have been writing Christmas cards and our Christmas shopping lists. Some of us even wrote letters to Father Christmas.

In History we compared modern day houses to houses from 1666 and talked about how the Great Fire of London changed the way houses are built now. We also finished our DT by evaluating the buildings that we made this term.

It has been a lovely term and I hope you all have a lovely, restful break. We look forward to seeing you in the new year.
