Week 3
Holly Class have had a very exciting week filled with food. In R.E we learnt about the Easter story and then baked our own hot cross buns in groups. We talked about how hot cross buns are connected to Easter and we learnt that the cross is a reminder to Christians that Jesus died on the cross but came back to life. This is why Easter is celebrated. Then in DT we tasted some ingredients to help us decide what toppings we would like when we make our own pizzas in the last week of this term.
In English this week, we have been reading 'The Frog Olympics' by Brian Moses and have had a go at structuring our own poem based on this book. In Maths we have begun to divide numbers using grouping. We have learnt that division means putting things into equal groups. We have used cubes to help us work out the answers.
In Geography we learnt what an aerial view is. We then learnt about a famous landmark on each continent and then placed them on a map of the world. We had to identify what the landmark was using its aerial photograph. The landmarks that we learnt were:
In Art we explored how colours and patterns can convey emotions and messages. We then turned photographs into our own art work. Finally in Science we learnt about the importance of exercise for humans.
