Oh my goodness we've made it to the end of a really long 8 week term. What a busy term it has been.
We are all incredibly proud of the children for their performances this week in our Key Stage 1 nativity performance 'Lights, Camel, Action'. All the children did a great job remembering the songs and their dances.
Well done, Ivy Class.
Phonics:
The children have focused on phonics in class and have been consolidating our recognition of set 1 and set 2 sounds, alongside the set 1 and 2 red words. We have used our knowledge of the sounds to help us practice our segmenting and blending skills.
English:
We have learnt about writing cards and the different parts you have inside a card. We wrote a greeting, discussed the messages we wanted and then signed them off with our names. We also learnt a little bit about letters and created letters to Father Christmas.
Maths:
We have been learning about 3D shapes; we have identified a selection of 3D shapes and looked at the properties of them. The children identified the number of faces, edges and vertices the shapes have. They also explored the shape of the faces for these shapes. They identified the 2D shapes that are used to build the 3D shape.
During the afternoon the children have been doing a range of Christmas activities and catching up on a few bits and pieces from the term.
We want to say a huge thank you to the parents and children for the Christmas cards and presents. We want to wish you all a wonderful Christmas break. We hope you enjoy some much-needed rest and family time. Please see TEAMS for some activities you could do together over the Christmas holidays.
Best wishes
Mrs Russell, Mrs Finnis and Mrs Giles
