Week ending 13th March 2026

Good afternoon.

After the fun of World Book Day last week, we were fortunate to have a visit for the Fire Service this week.  The children were taught about how to keep safe at home and some of the risks that can be avoided.  They also learnt about how to plan an escape route.  They listened well and asked some sensible questions about what to do in case of a fire.

In literacy we are continuing our learning about newspapers and using the information we have learnt about Pompeii. In numeracy, Year 4 have started their learning about tenths as decimals and ordering these whilst Year 3 have been comparing and ordering non-unit fractions.

In science we are completing a range of experiments to see how permeable soil is.  We collected samples from around the school grounds and placed these in coffee filter papers and then observed how long it took for the water to travel through.

In PE we have started our unit from the Royal Ballet and Opera.  The children are really enjoying dancing as the Mouse King and Nutcracker.

Please note that if you are collecting from the pool after swimming, please do not arrive before 3 o’clock to allow the children time to change.

Enjoy the weekend.
