Happy New Year!
A fantastic start to 2026 in Oak Class.
In English, we have been looking at letters and the children wrote a thank you letter, thanking a friend or family member for a variety of things. We have started looking at features of letters and children had fun on Friday piecing back together letters that had been cut up.
In Maths, children have been investigating the features of 2d shapes and lines of symmetry.
In History, we have began to research the effect Florence Nightingale had on the health of soldiers, the cleanliness of hospitals and the nutrition of the food served in particular. The topic this term is people of the past and what a great way to start by looking at someone who has been so impactful on our nation's health.
In Music, children have been learning how to march in time and focused on the beat in pieces of music. In Art, children have been learning about printing. I look forward to their creations to share in the near future. In PE, children investigated making letters and shapes with their bodies.
Have a wonderful weekend.
