Wow โ how quickly are the weeks flying by? It feels like we blink and itโs Friday again! โณ๐ This week has been full of learning, creativity, and some brilliant discussions.
It was so lovely to see so many of you at Parentsโ Evening โ thank you for taking the time to come in and chat about your childโs learning journey.
โ๏ธ English Adventures
In English, weโve been diving into the world of poetry with Matt Goodfellowโs work ๐ค๐. We explored how poems are laid out, spotted rhyming patterns, and even counted syllables to see how they shape the rhythm of a poem. By the end of the week, we picked our own themes and wrote our very own poems โ and they were fantastic! ๐โจ
โ Maths
Year 5 have been busy finding fractions of objects and discovering how to spot equivalent fractions ๐๐ข. Year 6 have been tackling improper fractions and converting them to mixed numbers (and back again!). They've also been adding and subtracting mixed numbers โ itโs been a bit tricky, especially finding that common denominator, but theyโve shown great perseverance ๐ช๐งฎ.
๐ ๏ธ DT Fun with LEGO
In DT, we got hands-on with LEGO to explore pulley systems โ๏ธ and even coded them using laptops to control the movement ๐ป๐ The class had a lot of fun!
๐๏ธ History Time Travel
We have looked at key inventions from throughout history and discussed what we thought was the most important invention ๐ง ๐ก. We had some brilliant conversations about how the wheel and fire changed the world โ such simple ideas with such a huge impact! ๐ฅ๐
โ RE: Respect & Equality
In RE, weโre focusing on racism and why itโs unfair. Our key words this week were: racism, prejudice, diversity, and equality ๐ง ๐. We looked at different scenarios and had some thoughtful discussions about fairness and respect.
Science: Animals Including Humans
This term weโre exploring Animals Including Humans and this week we learnt about gestation and the stages of human life โ from baby to old age and placed this information in to graphs using Excel. ๐ถโก๏ธ๐ต. Lots of great questions and curiosity from the class!
๐ PE: Fitness & Tag Rugby
Weโre keeping active with Fitness and Tag Rugby ๐โโ๏ธ๐. Just a reminder โ PE days are staying the same, so keep those kits ready!
