Term 2, Week 3 (14/11/25)

🌟 Another Week Done!

Wow, can you believe how quickly the weeks are flying by? The long nights are here, and it really feels like winter is knocking on the door! ❄️☕

📚 English
This week, we’ve been diving into the wonderful world of poetry with Matt Goodfellow’s work. We’ve explored figurative language—metaphors, similes, and personification—and had so much fun spotting them in poems. Then, we got creative and wrote our own poems using these techniques. The results have been absolutely amazing! ✍️✨

Maths

  • Year 5 have been comparing fractions by finding the lowest common denominator.
  • Year 6 have been multiplying fractions by whole numbers AND other fractions. We even tackled dividing fractions by whole numbers and vice versa.

🏺 History
We travelled back to the world of Ancient Islam and discovered how their inventions shaped the modern world. Fun fact: they invented SOAP (Imagine life without that)!

🙏 RE
We learned about John Wesley and Edward Colston, two figures with statues in Bristol. We discussed their lives and why Colston’s statue was removed in 2020 due to his role in the slave trade.

🎵 Music
Music linked beautifully with RE and History this week! We explored Gospel music, its origins, and had a blast learning about harmonies and call-and-response. 🎤🎶

🔬 Science
Our topic is Animals Including Humans. This week, we looked at the changes a human goes through to become an adult.

🛠 DT
We got hands-on with TinkerCad, exploring circuits ready for our electric car project later this term. ⚡🚗

🏃 PE
This term, it’s all about Fitness and Tag Rugby. PE days remain the same.
